چکیده

Ischemic heart disease (IHD) and adverse events after coronary stent placement represent polygenic disorders. They correspond to complex traits induced not only by multiple genes but also by the interaction of these genes with the environment. Multiple loci likely to be implicated in IHD are polymorphic, such that there are two or more variant forms of the gene in the population. These variants have been created by mutations that can change the coding sequence of the gene in question. A missense mutation, for example, would produce a different form of the encoded protein, whose function might be slightly altered compared

Can Allergic Disorders Decrease the Risk of Thromboembolic Events in Atherosclerosis? an Evidence-based Review

Atherosclerosis is a complex inflammatory disorder of the medium and large-sized arteries. Recent experiments demonstrated that atherosclerosis is a Th1 dominant autoimmune condition, whereas Th2 cells are rarely detected within the atherosclerotic lesions. Several studies have indicated that Th2 type cytokines could be effective in the reduction and stabilization of atherosclerotic plaque. The...

The GPIIIA PlA2 polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular adverse events

BACKGROUND The clinical impact of PlA2 polymorphism has been investigated in several diseases, but the definition of its specific role on thrombotic cardiovascular complications has been challenging. We aimed to explore the effect of PlA2 polymorphism on outcome in patients with atherosclerosis. METHODS We studied 400 consecutive patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) undergoing percutan...

Dabigatran etexilate - A novel oral anticoagulant for bleeding complications

Thromboembolic disease is a common cause of morbidity and mortality. Thrombin plays a key role in thrombotic events and thrombin inhibition represents a therapeutic event for thromboembolic events and has been identified as a target of therapy of its pivotal role in coagulation process. Anticoagulation is a major intervention for the management of arterial and venous thromboembolic events. Dabi...

The PlA1/A2 Polymorphism of Glycoprotein IIIa as a Risk Factor for Myocardial Infarction: A Meta-Analysis

BACKGROUND The PlA2 polymorphism of glycoprotein IIIa (GPIIIa) has been previously identified as being associated with myocardial infarction (MI), but whether this represents a true association is entirely unclear due to differences in findings from different studies. We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate whether this polymorphism is a risk factor for MI. METHODS Electronic databases (MEDL...
